Tourism Sector Must Deal With Illegal Tour Operators To Remain Sustainable

June 16, 2016

KOTA KINABALU, June 16 (Bernama) -- Sabah's industry players need to deal with the problem of illegal tour operators and guides to ensure the tourism sector remains on a sustainable basis, said state Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun.

Masidi said the state's tourism industry would not last long if unlicensed tour operating companies and tourist guides were allowed to continue conducting business by flouting rules and regulations.

"More and more travellers are choosing to visit countries where its tourism sector is well regulated; our tourism industry should be the same for that is one of the main factors attracting visitors to Sabah," he said when opening a seminar on 'Enforcement Issues in Sabah's Tourism Industry' here Thursday.
