We booked our 11 day Unbelievable Borneo tour with Trip A Deal in Australia. They use Borneo Trails to conduct the tour. We have nothing but praise for them. We were a group of 20. Our guide was Belle and she was fantastic! Our driver was Jay, also fabulous! They were always efficient, very knowledgeable, so caring and helpful.
They ensured we had the best experience at every stop.
We highly recommend this company and in particular Belle and Jay!! My husband can’t wait to return to climb Mount Kinabalu with Belle.

Local partners for KK trip

We booked Kota Kinabalu trip through one of biggest travel agents in India and Borneo Trails were the local partners who arranged our trip. So right from pick-up and drop to the airport to other tours were organized through them.

Their Vehicles were good and clean. Pick from airport to hotel on first day and from hotel to airport on last day was on time with friendly drivers.

The Klias fireflies tour was excellent. As we were vegetarians, a special request was already made ahead of our arrival and we got some good vegetarian food.

All in all we would surely recommend this travel company to all our friends and family. 

I booked a 3 day / 2 night Mt. Kinabalu hiking package with Borneo Trails Tours & Travel as they had a competitive price (not the lowest) and because almost all of the reviews I read about them were positive. I am very happy I chose them. My tour started off with a pickup from my hotel at noon on Day 1. I chose a noon pickup primarily because of my late arrival (after 11 p.m.) to the hotel the night before. I was the only passenger in the transport bus (about an 8 seater). The driver was courteous and friendly, explaining beforehand the upcoming drive and where I would be going. Our first stop, after about a 2 hour drive from Kota Kinabalu through the adjacent hills and mountains, was Mt. Kinabalu Nat'l Park headquarters to register for the following day. There I met the tour rep. Dora, who was very friendly and outgoing. We finished up with all the requirements in about 15 minutes. Then the transport driver took me to the Poring Hot Springs resort, about 30 minutes drive. I arrived to the resort at about 3 p.m. Check-in was fairly quick. The reception was able to pre-arrange my luggage storage for the next day at the Nat'l Park headquarters for fee of 12 RM. Most of the facilities (including pools) at the resort close at 4 p.m. So, I should have taken the earlier transport from KK in order to give a bit more time. Both dinner that night and breakfast for Day 2 were provided at the Rainforest Restaurant at the resort. Both meals were tasty and quite satisfying. On Day 2, a different van picked me and 6 others up at 7:30 a.m. and delivered us to the National Park HQ by 8:45 a.m. There I met Dora again and she provided me with my Park / Hiking ID and bag lunch. There I also me my hike guide. He turned out to be outstanding. Provided me with sound advice and motivation throughout the hike. He also offered to carry my pack up and down the trail for a nominal fee. We departed the Timpohon Gate at 9 a.m. and arrived to Laban Rata rest house at 3 p.m. I found everything about the rest house to be pretty good (food, beds, guests, etc.) I was able to have dinner and managed to get 6 hrs. sleep in time for the 1:30 a.m. wakeup on Day 3. Luckily the weather cooperated and was able to make the 3 hr. hike to the summit. Made the 2 hr. return hike to Laban Rata where I had breakfast and relaxed for an hour. My guide and I departed about 9:30 a.m. for the 6KM hike back down. The rain arrived when we were at 4KM, I was officially soaked through by about 3.5KM. Then we walked down the trail, disguised as a river, back to Timpohon Gate. In all, everything provided by Borneo was per the arranged itinerary and to my satisfaction. I had a memorable experience thanks to their planning and service and I am very grateful. I would strongly recommend this tour and tour company to anyone.

Fantastic Climb (2D1N) & well organised!

We chose Borneo Trails as they were the only company that was able to accept our 2D1N Mt Kinabalu climb on a specific date - about 3 months in advance. Booking was quite straightforward, and paid via iPayment88 in two parts - a deposit followed by remaining. The package included a hotel pick up which took us about 2 hours from the centre of Kota Kinabalu and all of our meals (packaged lunch, dinner, 2am breakfast, 7:30 am breakfast and lunch at the HQ at the end). We had a fantastic climb and thought the Laban Rata was great. Beds really comfy and the food / cafe shop had a great selection to chose from. Big thanks to our guide, Frederic who got us up and down the mountain swiftly!

Just wanted to say thanks for an amazing week touring with Borneo Trails with guides Dougie and Brendon and the drivers - you were all fantastic.

Mari Mari was absolutely amazing and Yull our guide was brilliant

Poring was excellent and our guide skinny Chaffill was the best ever. So enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the plants. Lovely guy
