Mount Trus Madi, 2, 642 meters (8, 668 feet) tall is the second highest mountain in Sabah and Malaysia after Mount Kinabalu. There are three (3) trails that lead to the peak of Mt. Trus Madi; 1) Kaingaran Trail, 2) Mastan Trail, 3) Mannan Trail. Mount Trus Madi used to require high fitness level and determination to conquer it for its difficulty, but after wooden walkway & resthouse was constructed by Forestry department in 2015, Kaingaran Trails turned into the trail which can be conquered even by beginner. To reach the summit from the starting point, climbers will be trekking through 2.2 kilometers of wooden walkway on the 1st day and continue 2.7 kilometers of heavily foliaged virgin rainforest on 2nd day. You will be fascinated by the beautiful pristine forest and welcomed by thousands of Nepenthes along the nature trail. One interesting thing to spot is the unique pitcher plant, Nepenthes x trusmadiensis—natural hybrid between Nepenthes lowii and Nepenthes macrophylla which is endemic to Mount Trus Madi alone.
