We are writing to thank Borneo Trails, Tours & Travel for making our time in Sabah a very special time. Walter was our personal tour guide. He was excellent. He is proud of his country and is a very knowledgeable and a caring person. He happily shared his knowledge and answered all our questions about geography, history, topography, social and political aspects of the country. He added interesting details about the places we visited/or passed through which we really appreciated. We visited the Sabah Tea Plantation, the fish massage at Ranau, Sapi Island and took the Kota Kinabalu City tour. We learned so much about the country! As older persons, we felt safe and supported at all times and that was very important. For instance, the day of our planned trip to Mt Kinabalu it was storming there and all along the 2 ½ to 3 hour trip to go there. We felt it was risky for us to go on the trek and try to take the canopy walk which was our dream to do. Borneo Trails, Tours & Travel generously agreed to change that tour to 2, ½ day tours instead - to the City Tour and the Sapi Island Tour on our last day in Sabah. The Sapi Island Tour was on an absolutely beautiful day and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip. It left a lasting memory of Sabah. Borneo Trails, Tours & Travel also offered to take us to the airport. We were very pleasantly surprised when we were picked up by Walter and driver in Borneo T, T&T’s VIP van! The people of Sabah are very generous and kind.

Just wanted to let you know that we very much enjoyed our time in Sabah. 

Glen and his driver Reward (?) were very professional. ..The Sepilok Nature Resort accommodation, staff and meals were enjoyed as was the guided night walk there. 

Both the Sun Bear and Orangutan Centres were well set-up, maintained and enthusiastically staffed.

The highlight of the trip was definitely the wildlife we saw here – I really didn’t have expectations of seeing so much variety or the numbers and so was delighted.

The Borneo Nature Lodge was basic but comfortable; food and staff were adequate.

The English Tea House is a lovely setting; had congenial staff; and good-size meals.

After our lunch, Glenn suggested we had enough time to do both the Puh Jih Syh temple and the water village as well as the Australian War Memorial Park – we appreciated his initiative.  The Australian War Memorial in Sandakan is very informative and pleasantly set out – as Australians we found it very interesting.

As our flight to KK was delayed and we were all tired from the previous early mornings, we asked the staff member who greeted us in KK to re-organise our Mari-Mari Cultural Village trip to the afternoon session which was done without any hassles – thank-you.  All of our group found the Mari-Mari Cultural village informative.  I think a lot of this can be attributed to our guide John who was informative but also sociable and fun.

I rented a vehicle from you on March 24.  The rental was handled by your employee, Xavier.  I would like to commend Xavier.  He was exceptionally pleasant to deal with.  As someone who travels extensively and rents cars all over the world, I appreciated Xavier’s  service and kind manner.  I have had rental company agents who pressure their customers into upgrading to a higher car category at the time of delivery.  I find this approach to be most offensive.  I was grateful that Xavier did not deviate from the arrangement that I had made.  And he was most accommodating with respect to delivery and pick up of the vehicle.

I think Xavier should be valued as an employee.

As I got back to work, right at the start of the busiest time of the year for us, could not write to you earlier.

Thanks for the wonderful and memorable trip I had to Kinabatangan along with you.

Your knowledge on the flora & fauna was very informative.

The 3 days I sent there gave me perspective of Borneo and hopefully we can work together in the future
